The gap this fills

Some mornings a hoodie is too relaxed for who you're seeing today. A blazer is more effort than today needs. Most days sit in between, and "smart casual" tells you nothing useful about what to actually put on.

Arden is built for that middle. The stand collar and button placket do the work a crew neck can't: buttoned to the top it reads neat and covered for the commute; opened at the throat it reads relaxed and lets heat out at your desk. Same jumper, two registers, no changing.

Fit and length — read this before you choose a size

This knit is cut close. We'd rather tell you that here than have you find out at the door. If you want ease through the bust and upper arm, or you want it skimming rather than following your shape, take one size up from the chart below. Two sizes up if you want to layer a shirt underneath.

It is a full-length body — it sits at the hip, not above it. No crop, nothing stopping at an awkward point, no drop shoulder adding bulk under a coat.

Size chart — body measurements (cm)

These are the body measurements each size is cut to fit — not the garment laid flat. Measure yourself over a light top, with the tape level and not pulled tight.

Between two sizes? Take the larger one. The knit is cut close and the sizes step up in small increments, so there's less room in hand than the numbers suggest.

Irish size equivalents are approximate — high-street sizing varies between retailers, so trust the centimetres over the letter.

Three ways to wear it, using what you already own

1. Office: straight black trousers, loafers, collar buttoned. Reads deliberate without reading corporate.
2. Home desk to school run: dark straight-leg jeans, clean trainers, collar open. Presentable on camera, fine at the gate.
3. Evening out of work: same jeans, add a wool coat and a crossbody bag. You didn't change; you just left.

Straight answers

Will it be too short? No. It's a hip-length body, not a crop. If you want the exact back-neck-to-hem figure for your size before you order, email us and we'll measure one.

Will it cling? In your exact chart size, it may. It's cut close. Take one size up and it skims instead.

Does it look like menswear? No — the stand collar is shaped and the body is a women's cut. But it isn't fussy or decorative either, which is the point.

Will I overheat in the office? It's a midweight knit, not a fleece. Open the collar and it vents at the throat, which is where it matters.

Can it go in the machine? Treat it as a wool-blend knit. Cool wool cycle or hand wash, dry flat. Not a tumble-dry garment.
